Description.
Made of celadon-coloured Hetian jade. It has a globular body with stylised side handles, narrowing at the mouth, crowned with a matching lid finished in a slightly conical shape. The surface is covered with an extensive, finely engraved calligraphic inscription of a poetic nature, which wraps around both the lid and the walls of the vessel. The base bears an engraved seal with four characters: “乾隆御制”. It stands on a carved wooden base with relief and openwork motifs. It shows patina due to ageing.
