Provenance: Christie's, From a European private collection, acquired between the 60s and from there by descendants to the current owner.
Extraordinary golden bronze censer with lid, well projected showing mythical animals that rise from the sea and gallop over the turbulent waves, has a pair of handles in the shape of a lion, everything is on a foot in the shape of a lotus. The lid is vaulted with relief of dragons and phoenix amid clouds and swirls, this is crowned with a stretched dragon. in the base has the mark in six characters of Xuande, Ming.
